looking to get into longer range shooting , up to 1000-1200 yds is about all i will do at the absolute longest but will probably shoot more around 600-800 yds .
bolt action , quality , and i would like it to be sexy .
i was looking into the big ***** rounds but way too much for a novice such as myself ,not looking to spend a fortune on ammo learning to shoot . ive had suggestions of .300 winchester , .308, 30-06 ....etc. id like something with some
for sure though.
i know remington is one of the best and most respected for bolt action rifles so i will consider them , i also like the savage arms 110ba for looks not price. although price isnt a huge factor it is a concern since i will need to purchase a decent glass.
Ive also considered building an ar-10 but have never shot one . suggestions and pics of anything you have of personal experience with .

I have a Savage Axis XP 308 that shoots 1/2" groups at 100yds. The 308 can reach your 600-800m goals but will be pushing it at the 1000m+ ranges. For those your best bet would be a 300 win mag.
The Remington 700 is a great rifle for the money. Also a Savage FP10 would be nice.

Gun recommendation isn't nearly as important as, are you reloading? I'm interested in doing the same thing as you but I've come to the conclusion there isn't much point until I can roll my own.
Personally, I think the rum rounds are hard to beat for a normal off-the-shelf round.

i doubt ill be reloading but depending what it costs to set up to do so i may consider it .
if i can reload the 338 lapua for some kind of decent price ill still consider that round as im a huge fan of it .
the barrett m82 is a nice gun without a doubt but dropping 10k on a rifle is unrealistic for my intentions. id go with the m99 before the semi auto. any idea on what reloads would cost after i bought enough rounds to keep the brass and reload?
reloading definatly has a possible place since i have a good place in my garage to do it as well as now going to be shooting the desert eagle in .50 and being so hard and expensive to find ammo for .
what other calibers are there that fit my criteria for distance/price and availability?
i have an extra ar-15 lower just laying around that could be used for something like this (tactilite bolt action .416 upper) i know there are some .338 bolt action uppers as well the .408 cheytec as well

not sure on what kind of quality there are but for that price i can be set up with something pretty nice for about what im looking to spend .
cody , you have any suggestions or places i can learn on reloading ? you have sparked my interest for sure , i just have to justify it for the amount of shooting i do , the nice part is i have quite a few friends that go shooting regular enough that reloading could work.

Chase I sent you a PM.... Call me tomorrow anytime and I will sit down and talk with you a bit.
It comes down to several, but the biggest thing is budget and over time frame you are willing to wait.

Reloading isn't that bad. I use a Lee Classic Single Stage Press for my 308. If you go with just the standard dies will be about $50. A scale for the powder. About $80-150 depending on what you get. powder goes for about $25 for a lb depending on what you go with. and bullets are about $30 for 100. I can reload my 308 for about $15 per 20 rds. Way better than $25 per 20 for sub par ammo.
