Default new Rifle

I got myself a new rifle today. Nothing fancy. Its a Savage Axis XP .308. Came with a Bushnell 3x9x40 scope. Its a very nice rifle. Very light weight considering its a .308, mounted a bipod and took it to the range. It was supposed to be bore sighted from the factory but I had a nice group about 3ft to the right at 50m. Adjusted accordingly and it was right on target. Has good grouping. Bolt guilds accros the rails like theres nothing. Only complaint is the trigger. Its a 5-6# pull. Found a way to mod it to make it a 3# pull. I may try that and see how it does. Overall very happy with my purchase and will recommend it to anyone.

I've been debating one, with the cheap cost of a Savage I will most likely be going that route. Just haven't pulled the trigger. My .270WSM costs too much to shoot.

Sweet little rig man. Look into the Accutrigger mod. Very nice and cost effective way to have a low LB "crisp" break.

Im going to trim the trigger spring. Saw the How-to on youtube and it looked like it worked very well. looking into better scopes now. The 3-9x40 is nice to about 100m but Im wanting to shoot to about 300.
saw this one on one of the ads on this site. Any thoughts about it?

Thank god, I was looking at the title and was figuring on another AR-15 style weapon, finally another guy that likes bolt action rifles.

be careful trimmin anything there bud, triggers are something when they go wrong they go horribly wrong. you should look into a drop in trigger. nice rifle, get lots of practice in!

Thats why I offered up the accu swap, but to each is own. Still a sweet rig. I have an OLD remmy 788 in .308 that is a tack driver. Its the one I reach for when the freezer has space.......

I cant seem to find just the accutrigger,
trimmed the spring. Got it to about a 4# pull. did the drop test and it didnt fire. so it'll work.

Nothing wrong with AR-15s

Nice rifle Andy, I need to bring my mosin to the range soon. Been a while since I've shot it.
