Default Working on MAF tune???

ok so i have been working on recalibrating my MAF. I seem to understand how to log. I did logged my dynamic air on g/sec and MAF in hertz and put those on my PID's.

however, when I read stuff on the net when calibrating the MAF people say to go into SD mode. My question is, why do you have to log you MAF in SD mode. I see no point in it.

When you tune the MAF, you need it to be controlling the fueling, so you wouldn't want to be in SD.

The way I understand it is you AutoVE tune the VE table (no MAF). Once that is dialed in you can tune the MAF. That way if your BENS are off you know its not the VE table because you already dialed that in, you just make adjustments to the MAF table till the BENs are in line. I think you should have the VE table done first though. This might help you...

yes I did tune the VE table and got it down best that I could. What I have been doing is logging the MAF with it on. The way that I see it, is that you can log with it on or off. all you are doing (at least in my part) is logging the dynamic air and the results that I am getting is writing that to my table. I guess you guys are on the same page as I am.

you can tune entirely with MAF, but then you gotta lower the limit of when it runs off MAF exclusively, because normally, until 4000rpm, it's a blend of MAF lookups and SD calculations. however, if GM makes something extra complex, it's probably a sign that there's a good reason for it. if you go with the hybrid MAF/SD mode, they gotta agree or you're gonna get the limp mode. to make them agree you gotta tune VE first, and then map it out to MAF. pure SD suddenly seems the simplest way to go

The method I use for tweaking the maf curve is stickied at the top its very easy and straight forward Ive used it on several vehicles and it takes about 5 minutes once you realize whats going on. Tuning the VE table is alot more consuming.
