Default won't idle, cam position sensor?

Just dropped in the new cam heads and injectors, now the truck dies if you let it idle. Would the cam position sensor cause that? The SES is throwing that code. That and it stumbles a little on start up. As far as I know I got everything hooked up as I don't have the dreaded box of left over parts.

did you tune for the new cam and heads? it won'y idle worth a hoot if you didn't. If you lined up the dots on the cam gears you should be good to go.

What's the actual code number that is being thrown?

on the tuning thing. you could be running way too rich, i think thats what happen on initial cam install before the tune. and your setting are totallu different. depending on how radical your cam is compared to the stocker than thats your driveability. its why many cam dealers have notes to the right saying tuning recommended or required.

No I havent tuned yet, just wanted to get it up and running and make sure that everythings ok as this is my first engine build. The code is P0343 - camshaft position sensor circuit high imput.

Where are you located? Do you need a free case learn done? Whenever you swap camshafts out you should always get a case learn done. Either the cam is off a tooth (doubtful if you triple checked), needs a CASE learn or something went bunk with your CPS (crank pos sens)

Getting that code after a cam swap is almost certain. But, I thought the PCM will learn the position after a few seconds. Wouldnt have to to run at all? He also said he installed injectors. I would assume bigger. This could be a big part of the problem.

yeah if you installed injectors(8.1 I assume) also, it wont run for **** w/o a tune.

Make the necessary adjustments and report back. Run a case learn too, you have hptuners so you can do that easily. It's in VCM controls-Special. You may have to screw with the tps though.
