Evap has to do with emissions and the 1 psi thing will give a code if it dosent see it due to a leak or gas cap being loose or off or something. I've never seen it make one run bad. Try unplugging the MAF? and check to make sure you air intake isn't leaking unmetered air somewhere.

I unplugged and cleaned the MAF. I was spraying carb cleaner around the intake when I noticed the evap was loose. It may have been the carb cleaner that made it run better and I was distracted by what I saw... I'll check it out tonight. Thanks.

I think it's the TB gasket that's leaking. It just takes a while for it to soak in before the idle improves. I sprayed it and nothing happened till I started to walk away about 15 seconds after I stoped spraying. Then lightning struck nearby, I threw the can of "EXTREMELY FLAMMABLE" cleaner and ran like a scared little girly boy! To be continued tomorrow.

Sounds like a vaccum leak, the carb spray made it rev up when it got sucked in, other less flameable substances will have the opposite effect. No need to run like a little girl it wont ignite without a spark or flame.

Now it idles okay but backfires when I rev it.

I've been spraying carb cleaner to try and find the leak and. Sometimes it would start idling better when I spray on the passenger side of the intak area but other times it wouldn't. After a while, it started idling good all the time but now it backfires when I rev it. WTF???

Okay, I got a fuel pressure tester yesterday. I only have 11 psi at idle and I can't get it to rev. I changed the fuel filter yesterday. Do you think it's my regulator??? I have a Walbro 155l with about 60k miles on it...

Ok, here's where I stand now...

I hooked up the fuel pressure gauge to the port on the passenger side of the engine. Was this the right area?

When I turn on the key without starting the engine, I have 0 pressure. Once I start it, it goes up to 11 and stays there. If I hit the bleed off button, the pressure drops and the engine stumbles. As soon as I kill the engine, the pressure drops to 0.

I'm guessing it's the fuel pump but I also heard that a lot of times the harness will go bad and cause wierd problems. The pump is a Walbro 255 lph with about 60k miles on it. Shouldn't it last a lot longer?

Thanks,
J.R.

Default I found the problem...

I dropped the gas tank and pulled the fuel pump module. I hooked up a pressure gauge straight to the output of the module to make sure the problem wasn't a pinched line or something and I was boarded waiting for my wife to get home from work so I could use her car to go to the store. So, I rigged up a harness and the gauge. Of course, I only had 12 psi there... For some reason, I kept it running for a while and I noticed fuel pooring back into the tank! The inside of the hose had broken up and peeled out while the outside was still intact. I clipped the hose and this time, I got 70psi coming off the pump!

If anyone ever has to drop the tank by themself, see about borrowing a motorcycle jack!!! It made it a breeze!

Thanks for everyone's help.

J.R.

Thats a good way, but if you can, its easy to pull the bed as well, but that can be hard by yourself but a engine hoist hooked to some straps can make it easy.
