turbo smoking?
#1
When I get on it even a little the turbo smokes, I'm assuming that it's burning oil? I've checked the feed line and the drain line and there both tight. What could be the cause?
Thanks

Blow by from the pistons maybe.
Maybe when you hit boost it puts pressure into the crankcase and thus you burn oil.
Hard to just guess at this though, it could be the turbo itself but wouldnt have a clue.

Might need to run a restrictor sounds like its pushing oil into the exhaust housing. My turbo 5.3 setup did that but stopped when I ran a restrictor. Is your turbo a journal bearing or ball bearing?
Simple How To for a home made oil restrictor...

Get a AN fitting like this ^^^^^ that has a npt side on it that screws into your turbo and one side that works with your feed line. Cut the AN side down flat and put a nitrous jet in there... Play with different jets until you get it to stop smoking.
Heres a old junk -4an 1/8th npt fitting I made real quick to show the end result seals up just fine...

Is this something you should do matter what? I thought I saw some smoke today and don't have a restrictor. Started up tonight and no smoke but I thought I remember where people saying it only did it hot.
