Something else that was weird before we took out the fuses is that it didn't want to start after installing the new tune.
We put the tune in then went to crank it up and didn't even crank. My gauge wasn't registering any voltage and we put a charger on it which showed that it was pretty dead. We jumped it and it started up. Went for a drive and pulled over to change some things, had problems loading again, and then it was totally dead. We loaded the old tune back in and it fired right up. Got back to the house and tryed loading a few changes at a time all with trouble connecting. It started up fine the first few times, but then went dead again.
That is when I finally thought to pull the fuses because I remembered doing it with my handheld tuner I used to have, even though it worked without doing it. Pretty strange because the battery seems very strong and I had never had a problem with it before. Seems like the fuses are the key for these newer trucks with the different modules in them.

I'm wondering if the '04's have a voltage draw on them somewhere that effects the programming. We've had similar problems programming fast4popper's (silveradoss.com forums) '04 Silverado SS. We got stranded once trying to program it over the lunch hour and I know the Revolution Raceworks guy had problems programming him too when he put fast4popper's SC on. Ever since then, we put the truck on a trickle charger (2 amps setting) and go low speed and have never had a problem writing a file since.
EDIT: BTW, we haven't ever tried pulling the fuses idea...

I just had a similar problem tonight on my 03. I made some changes and uploaded them like normal with no problems. When for a little drive and when I got home I made another change and tried to upload it and the firs couple of tries it got to the preparing vcm part and then the speakers popped real f-ing loud. Bout scared the crap out a me. Plugged my ears for the second go round and the third try it switched over to low speed write and it seemed to take my upload. Still kinda scary, the last think I need right now is to ruin my vcm. I started it up after the tune loaded and it seems to be ok.
I think the man is messing with us, probably using the Onstar system to tap in to our trucks and report us to the government for polluting the environment.
