Default Truck vs FBody

What are the differences between the Truck and FBody versions of the ECM and program?

My situation...I am planning on swapping a T-56 into my 00 Tahoe and ideally would like to use an ECM with a 00 Fbody VIN burned-in and the Fbody maunal harness. I already run Fbody injectors and I hope that the coil pack connector is the same. I want to get the separate IAT sensor.

The various tuning programs appear to be different for trucks and Fbodys, at least they claim to sell different versions for each. Is the hardware the same or are there subtle differences? I believe the PIN assignments may differ at the ECM or am I wrong?

I am going to be doing significant SD tuning anyway so I'm not too concerned about the stock Fbody tune. There should be very minimal if any controls on the T-56 from the ECM. Gearing and tire size can be changed.

Do I lose my gauge cluster? Maybe ABS?

Anybody have any experience or thought on this?

THe PCM is identical between the 2. Only the calibrations are different. You would be better off to use your PCM and swap the Trans segment with a 6-Speed Segment from a 00 F-body PCM with the same Operating System number.

Your cluster will function correctly and all the wiring at the pcm is the same.

Couple questions:
1) Can this swapping of trans segments be done with Edit?
2) Does a manual trans harness from an FBody directly swap over?

Thanks

Yeah I saw that.

I have some connection issues with my current harness so I thought I could kill couple birds with one stone. If I were to find a new harness could I just get an FBody version (T-56 connections, clutch pedal connection, separate IAT sensor, FBody fuel injectors) and lessen the splicing I would have to do?

Sorry, but I don't understand what you are saying.

Is the short answer that the FBody harness does not fit/work? That using an FBody harness requires some sort of additional work? Tuning? Help with the "more work is needed" part. What is needed? Different PIN locations?

I know that I can use the truck harness, but I also know that route requires additional work also, as described in the swap thread. Was hoping that the FBody harness might require none.

the truck harness is the way to go. to make fbody work its completely different. its not worth any effort to make it work. to make the truck harness work its simple!!!! 5 minute of work for the truck one compared ot hours apond hours for fbody

the wheel has been invented. there is no need to reinvent it once again.....which means the path you choose has been done. there isnt a need to try and change thigns up when all the hard work has been done
