does it seem to be an iat heatsoak issue? like when it starts getting back to ambient idle gets better? or just random?

It might be, but the IATs don't get that hot to really affect anything, as far as i can tell... I am thinking i need to re adjust my desired airflow, look at the VE table, and probably zero out the idle learning...

I would just try educated guess and check. Perhaps try a good rafig while holding the IAT constant and or in line with the IAT that was used to set up the VE? I dunno.....
