Who all has done this swap? I guess anyone with the E67/T42 combo it would apply to as well. I have seen numerous different things an I am not sure what all is needed on the tune side? I have HPT, can segment swaps still be done on these TCM's? What is the story?

Are you sure they're not using a T42 on the transmission controller? My understanding was that the T43 was the six speed controler.

If it's T42 they can probably do a Segment swap from a similar year vehicle and modify the wiring.

 

You are absolutely right, I miss typed that. Fixed it. I am seeing mixed things on that, I was hoping it would be like my truck where you can do the segment and change a couple pins around but it seems that there are a couple codes that need disabled through EFI live I guess. I have HPT...

No you need to use EFI live! Contact Alvin or Kelly at PCMforless! They have an adapter harness and can setup and tune your TCM. Once you get it back install and read it with HPT to tweak whatever you need to. I'm not sure what the harness goes for but it's on their website. I think the TCM programming and code removal was 85 with shipping. They did mine. He does a ton of TBSS' so I'm sure his trans tune is awesome!

 

I don't see why HPT couldn't do the segment swap. I understand the file has to be sent to HPT support and they do it but...

I guess I am more curious as to why you would only be able to do it with EFI Live???

I understand that EFI Live supports user's doing there own segment swap and HPT has to be done through their tech support.

 

PCMforLess doesn't do a segment swap.

 

No there reflashing the TCM for a 4L80E calibration from a similar year and there using a benchtop harness to do it.

I just don't understand why HPT doesn't have a way to support this as well.

 

I'm 99% positive it can be done with HPT. I believe Joe from Leftcoast has done these with HPT. Maybe he will chime in.

 

You're right he uses HPT and has messed with theses. I forgot all about Joe.

Maybe he can school us.
