Default Speed Density vs. Closed loop?

Ok i have searched here and efilive.com/forums. I haven't found what I am looking for! Nonnieselman tunes my truck cause he has the software and we get justin at blackbear to help us!
My mods are as follows:
6.0 ls6 spring, z06 cam, yanktt3000, superior servos, k&n intake, magnaflow, and 3.73 with rear disc conversion on the 07 classic in my sig!

My question is what are the benifits to either sd or cl tuning?

I have got the truck close to perfect in sd and I am wondering if i can benifit from going back to cl?

My fuel mileage is about 13.8 which is horrible compared to 6.0 in all the half tons i have seen and wonder if cl will help with not only mileage but performance!

Please help I have a few hours on the dyno sat morning and I want to get close before i put it on. so we can dial it in!

Can't answer your question, but 13.8 on the gas mileage is good.

Closed loop is one form of Speed Density tuning....SD for short. The other form is Open Loop....Open loop does not use feedback from the forward O2 sensors to adjust trims....Closed Loop does. Hence OLSD or CLSD.

Both systems usually mean the the MAF is not used for calcualtions.

Set up your truck to go into closed loop and re-enable the LTFT. That will help you mpg a little. If your sd ve is all set this should be quick and easy. This just lets the computer get back in the game to help keep your air/fuel ratio close to 14.7/1 or whatever you are commanding.

I got ya so after we set up for sd just go back to cl and enable LTFT's and all of my chages to my ve table will still be there? So it should run the same as it does now just maybe some better fuel mileage and adjust itself for the weather?

It should thats what I did. Your VE will not change. Run a couple of logs and make sure your STFT and LTFT stay =/- 5 or better. Good luck.
