Default searched with no help

i have searched long and hard but came up with zip.

Does anyone know if adding a trans temp gauge to the stock 04 cluster is as simple as putting in a stepper motor the overlay and a needle?

I am replacing 2 bad steppers anyways so if it is i can put in a trans temp as well.

If anyone could help that would be great.

figured that life is not that easy.

so it needs to be programmed with the correct specifications for the trans temp in Tech II huh?

No, the printed circuit on the back is different as well. By the time you "built" your own, you could've just bought one, had a warranty, and be done with it.

They just plug in & work, no programming needed.

yeah i know that but the milage is wrong and getting them changed is a pain in the ****

the real reason i was asking is i got a deal on a escalade bezel and overlay for like 40 bucks so i was gonna just rock it. i may just place a needle in it and leave it be for now i have the trans temp in my Aeroforce gauge.

oh well well see how it works out.

There is a spot on the stock cluster for the extra stepper motor. It works on some trucks just by adding it but not on others. but if you add it then the cluster can be programmed to turn it on. I tried it on my stock cluster and it didnt work without programming the cluster but i know others have had luck.
