Default SD Tune or Use MAF??

After my buddy tuned the truck in SD he then switched it to MAF. But the truck would go through the gears alot faster in SD. It also ran smoother and sounded better. I'm wondering if ya'll would recommend SD over MAF? The night we tuned it the air was at 3600. The next day was at 5200 DA. That might be the loss of power I'm feeling, but damn, the night before it felt like you just hit a 100HP shot of go go juice. I'm just wondering if ya'll have had any before and after experiences of going from MAF to SD? Thanks for any help....

PM dirt_track_racer_81 and ask him about SD tunes. From what I understand they are OVERALL better but most people seem to have some sort of FI.

in NA, if he SD tuned at that altitude, then put it back on the MAF and you went to a higher elevation you are gonna notice a big difference I bet. After 4K RPM it's all MAF, have your buddy tune it for the altitude you plan to be in and also clean up the maf. (A wideband would be highly advisable), but, for me...SD all the way baby! A MAF tune is probably better if you can tune the MAF table to get it as smooth and correct as possible.

And this truck has non-stock injectors? How are the trims looking after the MAF was enabled?

The MAF is a representation of airflow into the engine. It depends on an accurate reporting of RPM and a correctly configured injector flow rate table. We can assume the RPM is correctly being measured, so that leaves the IFR table. If it is not correct for your injectors, even off a couple of percent, you'll notice a difference between running MAF'd and running in SD (which you've tuned for). Case in point, if you're running the Marine 8.1L injectors that everyone calls 42#ers, then you're off already by 4%, as those are actually 43.82# injectors.

I don't know what kind of injectors they are. They are the ones that Blownchevy sells.
