Default programmer vs. tune

Would a hypertech or predator programmer give me the same performance as a custom tune? What are the differences if any?

No.
There are few if any similarities.
Handhelds are limited. Custom tuning is not.
If you want performance get a custom tune.

$550-$650 and no, it's not easy but well worth the money and time to learn it.

Yep it take a little while, I learn new stuff everyday, but when ever your waiting for your next mod or out of money or just plain bored you can always tweak your tune!!!! The mod that never ends. But don't be fearful cause it take a little while to learn, there are plenty of guys on this forum who will help you out!!!

Just like everyone else here said a custom tune is the way to go for performance and if you wanted to you can tune it for gas mileage as well.

Handhelds you can do some stuff and there is a difference over stock but buying a brand new handheld over tunning software or a custom tune is just wasting money.
