Default Please take a look at my tune

I'm still learning a lot about tuning so please tell me, am i gonna blow my truck up this weekend or does it still suck. I've got the tune in my truck now and it seems to run fine. Mods are just long tube headers and intake mod to the stock air box. I did run the scanner a bit before i made tune changes but I would like some pro advice.

if you could post your stock tune, which I hope you saved, that would help. What all did you change? Timing, Torque management (engine and transmission?), and you switched to e-fans? Year of truck (don't think that really matters tho...)? What e-fans and whose wiring harness did you use for the e-fans? Have you confirmed the fans work properly?

I can post the evolution of the tune, I always backup one file before i make major changes just so i can go back to what worked. I'm using the 05+ fans with the 34" radiator and the nelson wiring harness. The fans have been work great here in the Texas heat. I just change the temps to a little cooler, it seemed like the truck was getting a little hot sitting in traffic before the fans would kick in. With the AC on the truck never got hot. its an 04 sierra rcsb.

the first tune i posted is just engine tuning, i had changed the transmission a while back and has been running well. only with the transmission tuning is it tends to take its sweet time shifting at more than 75% throttle. I just atribute that to being a stock transmission. I dont drive the truck very hard, thats what the sport bikes are for.

the non stock tune has the efan changes in it too.

Thanks for looking at the file.

looks pretty good to me. I currently have an 03 4.8l and have been in the process of doing mods and tuning as I go. I AM NO EXPERT BY ANY MEANS, but your tune looks pretty good. Not sure what methodology you used to change your timing? Not saying its bad, Im just curious. You can gain a lot of info by logging into HPT.com and finding a couple 93 octane tunes for stock 4.8s and that can give you an idea if you're in the ballpark or not, which you are.

If you've verified that your e-fans are working properly, then you should be good. I have LS1 e-fans and have mine set up as "Aux Fans" not sure if that's right or not. One thing that I saw on the fans: what thermostat are you running? You do not want your e-fans running when your thermostat isn't completely open. It looks like, by what you have set up, that you're running a the 195 t-stat. I have both fans turning on at 200 and off at 194/195 (1 and 2). For your fan 2, I'm not sure that I'd want it to wait until it reaches 225 to turn on and help out fan 1, but that's just me. The reason i say all this is because most likely with your mechanical fans, your truck ran at around 205-210 I want to say, and you have your Fan 1 kicking on at 216...I just tried to replicate the characteristics of the mechanical fans to that of my e-fans. I only see 210 temps after a good WOT pull. You can also go into the HPT tune repository and check to see how other people have set up their e-fans.

When you're testing the tune out, have you laptop sitting on the seat with knock retard table open with the '+' or maximum retard button pushed in. This will show you if you're getting any knock as youre driving. Don't got WOT immediately. Roll into the throttle slowly, monitor the screen as you're driving to ensure that no cells pop up with any KR. As you get a feel for it you can start increasing how quickly to get into the throttle as you keep monitoring. Keep an eye on ECT (engine coolant temps) too.

Anybody else have any guidance or opinions on his tune?

as far as the transmission goes, you can change the shift time based on TPS% (I think that's the variable or maybe its RPM). I had the same issue with it shifting super slow, so I bought a $25 vette servo for the 4L60e which was a super easy install and it helps the shifts out a lot. At the track last Friday my rearend was breaking lose during my 1-2 shifts and I'm not even sure that I have 300hp to the wheels. I'll post up my current tune (again Im no expert but you can see what ive changed in terms of transmission, shift points, etc). Im running 93, but I have a few more mods than you. Additionally, I just started tuning with my wideband so my timing is backed off since I'm adjusting my PE. Im also currently tuning in speed density so I have a bunch of parameters set to force the truck in open loop, so pay no mind to that.

Thanks, I took the fan data from an 05 sierra that my neighbor has, he was kind enough to let me use his truck for a base like for the fans. I'll adjust the fans tomorrow, I'm gonna do some data logging after work. I'm driving to OKC after work so I'll have a couple hundred miles to make changes along the way. I dont have a "method" per say but I just do what makes sense to me. I've been looking thru the HPT repository and comparing to some close setups but no one has my same setup.

Soooo....that tune was a bit off, knock retard as far as the eye can see. Not really but quite alot. Here is a 30 min scan of the part of the drive, nothing special just up and down some hills. seems like anytime the gas was applied there was spark knock. I think I may have a problem with on of the knock sensors.
