You didn't have the converter properly engaged and crushed the front pump.

The pumps junk and you probably trashed the snout on the torque converter. Pull the converter and if there is any scoring on the snout it's scrap metal and the pump is crushed internally.

Pretty straight forward drop the oil pan remove the tcc solenoid. Remove the bellhousing from the trans then remove the bolts around the oil pump. I have the gm pump remover that grabs the pump and presses against the input shaft to pull the pump out. In your driveway I'm not quite sure what you can use to pull the pump it's usually too tight to pull by hand.

If someone else has a tip may be good time to chime in.

Thanks for the info im going to try this soon but I think we found a deal on a 65 that should be a straight swap right? No modding needed?

Don't laugh now... I am getting my hill billy hat on here

Warning Disclaimer The bell housing can be damaged if you hit it on a hard surface like concrete. Other parts may fall out of transmission. This is not a professional approved repair method nor is it recommended. ***Use at your own risk***

Leave bell housing on, pull TCC solenoid and Flip trans so tail shaft is up in the air. Smack bell housing on a 2x4 or in the soft grass and the pump will fall out.... Definitely NOT the right way but can be used in a pinch.

Yes its a straight swap. Assuming the unit is good, this may just be a better option for you. Look for fluid condition. Color and smell mainly. If it looks like or smells like stay away. You want a nice Reddish color not purple, brown, or black.
