Default my idle issues

sigh...im getting tired of the truck cuz of this **** lol...here is the issue.

the truck idles awesome. crank it up and it purrs like a kitten. put it in drive and sometimes it falls on its face...sometimes it acts perfect. iac counts are at 60-56 at idle...idle rpm is at 750...theres no reason my truck shouldnt take this cam without a single problem

i have a great tuner. he's tuned countless trucks with bigger cams in smaller motors without a problem. mine is being a bitch to say the least.

i can crank it up and throw it in drive and it acts totally fine. if i let it set for 2 or 3 minutes idling and try to put it in drive it chokes and dies. weve tuned on the idle for literally HOURS and have gotten nowhere. can someone think of an issue outside of the tune that may be causing this?

I hear ya man. I just finally had to start using the a/c and my idle issues began again. I'm using a 224/224 in a 5.3L and my truck idled great at 700rpms but now it struggles to idle at 800 with the a/c on full blast.

No but I was also thinking it was maybe an electrical thing.
When you're running a/c at full blast, efans, 1000watt amp, and on the stock 105amp alternator I would imagine that's not best.

I'm thinking about moving up to a 145 amp alternator.

How old is your battery? I say this because I had an issue "similar" to your and it turned out to be a bad battery. Truns out that it had just enough power to start the truck but as it sat the voltage would drop low enough to act like I unplugged the PCM. My "learned" parameters would always be funky until I got a new battery. It was 4 years old and had been drained numerous times.

While I am talking about this, The new battery also cured one of my KR situations that was making me pound my head against the wall. I would get KR randomly when I would get into boost and couldn't figure it out for a year. Turns out that the battery / alt couldn't support the initial kick on of my meth pump, causing a voltage drop, causing a blip in my fuel pumps, causing a second of lower FP, causing a slight lean condition and triggering KR.

I guess 2 fuel pumps, FAL fans, meth pump and other little things just was too much.
