Default More load = less KR?

Hey Guys,

First of all, my timing table is a little aggressive. But, I only see 1* of KR a couple times a week.

Some strange things going on.

Last weekend, and this weekend, I picked up a bunch of firewood with a trailer.
Same thing happened both times.

I pull the trailer empty (maybe 800# + a big wind catching gate on back) to get the wood. I get a few small areas of KR (up to 5*). mostly low rpm higher throttle areas, some in midrange light throttle.

Then, fill the trailer with 3000# of wood, and get almost ZERO (1* a couple times) KR pulling it home.

Anyone have any idea why?

BTW my KR learn never moved from 1.0 and was getting full timing both ways x 3 trips back and forth.

just speculation on your tune, but more load could put you in higher g/cyl cells. Those particualr cells may have low enough spark to work well with your setup. Plus, load also creates less vacuum. So you could be tripping the pe enablers when you wouldn't normally. More fuel, less kr...in your situation. (not always the case with the fuel statement)

Thanks dew,
I'm not going into PE.
I made sure to hit the same cells in both situations.
Not sure what you mean about the vacuum part.

on the vacuum...just talking about manifold pressure. As I get more load but no real increase in rpm, my kpa increases. The MAP is in vacuum...and goes closer to a "non-vacuum" situation. For me with the radix, I go from vacuum to boost. You'd go from lots of vacuum to hardly any, if any.

So what's the scenario with the rpm, kpa, and TPS with your described scenarios above.

I am with ya though, hard to believe that with a heavy vehicle, the exact same cells, MAF freq, MAP kpa, RPM, g/cyl, has less kr than a lighter vehicle. Goes against the idea of an f-body/vette tune versus our trucks huh.

When it was empty, I got some KR in the 1400rpm column.
The 4-5* hits were at .60 and .64 g/cyl. Also got some 1* hits at .52 and .54.
Also between 2800 and 3600 I saw 1* at .44 and .48 g/cyl at light throttle.

****, I actually missed the cells where i got 4-5* empty, when i was full.
So I guess it's not as different as I thought. But I did get several more hits when empty compared to full.
I was in the 1600 column when I was checking for KR when I was full.

Anyway, I'm still surprised that I saw almost no KR when pulling almost 4000#. But, when I put a small load on it I saw a bit more than expected.

Anyone else see something like this?

i would agree with dewmanshu with the pe you may need to run a little more fuel to handle the spark

Thanks for the input litredevil, but i am not into PE at all in these KR events.
Basically, I see more KR with an empty trailer, than a full one.

Yeah, I can post up some logs.
Do we need to go over to HPT?
I thought this site didn't support those files?
