Default Looking into purchasing HPT

Hey guys im very interested in buying hptuners and was wondering if there is anything i should look further into before buying.. I'am looking at the basic tuning package VCM suite 2.22 or 2.2.
I would be just tuning for a hobby not proffesionally for a shop or anything which one would best fit my needs? Is the pro series worth the money for me to spend?

Does the kit come with everything i need or will there be extra cables or ect., that i would have to purchase seperate?

As far as the computer i should use i read that it will work with anything from xp to vista and newer but i have heard win7 has had a few issues.. Is there a paticular one that it works best with? I will have a designated lab top just for tuning i was asking so i would know what to get.

Im looking to buy soon so if i could get some help that would be awesome.

Thanks
Ray

First off, go ahead and spend the extra dough and get the pro.. The kit comes with everything you need except a wideband monitor, but you can tune without one.. If it were me I was just buy a basic windows xp laptop as it doesnt take a lot of resources to run the tuning program.. Ive ran it well on a netbook before.. Hope this helps.. If you have any more questions post them up..

Ive run it with vista and 7 and never had issues. I would definately get a wideband with the tuning stuff. I would just go with the standard and save $150 and route the wideband through the egr or ac pressure.

Yea, the thing that sold me on the pro was the stand alone data logging ability.. I hate lugging my laptop around all the time and it works really well at the track.. ROLL TIDE! BTW

do yourself a favor and get efi live... Otherwise you will be the outcast at the track and no one will be able to help you because everyone else runs Efi Live...

LMFAO...funny you mention that. I am always the only one running HPT at our tracks and when I am done running 11's everybody wants help tuning their rides. I of course offer to tune over top their EFI tune, but for some reason they never bite.

What?!

(don't tell anybody it's the boost and juice not really the tune that makes me go that fast)

Corey dont hate me but i went ahead and spent the extra money on the pro series it will make things easier since i have more than one vehicle i will be playing with so the external wideband controller will make a world of diff..

I didnt wanna confuse myself with what little i already know about hpt and get it mixed with efi live. You and eric are the only two guys i hang out with that have efi live the other guys run hpt also..

it is cool, just giving you a hard time. I would check out a LM-1 or LM-2 external wideband. I have one and it is awesome for switching from vehicle to vehicle...
