idle A/F, lean cruise
#1
For some reason, I can't lean out my idle to save my life... I've tried the idle airflow tables, main VE, and its still wanting idle in the high 12s... I know it should be about 15.0 right? I think I may be running into issues with these 60# injectors, should I mess with IFR?
Also, you guys that have setup a "lean cruise" in HPT, what are you wanting on the WB? Mines around 16.0 and fluxuates btwn 15.0 and 16.5. Occasionally, it will lean all the way to 17.2ish for a split second. Is this that terrible on cruise where there's not much load?
My mileage has been at best, 14-15.... With 70% hwy driving... I know its gotta have more than that in it...

from what ive read 15.8 @ cruise is the most efficient. mines around 16. I tuned viciousknids truck the other day to 15.8 and he was gettin 20mph till he broke down west of amarillo today

You aren't going to have much luck with the 60's and leaning out the idle.
15.5 to 16 is good like Tyler says. Get it back to 15 with some load. What cam are you running and what is the spark you are hitting at this "lean cruise"? Play with the spark some too, it will have some effect on everything at cruising.

I never played with mine as i didn't and don't care about fuel economy. If it felt snappier and didn't have kr...I am game.
But, FWIW, from what reading on the lovely internet of knowledge I have done, seems the common agreement is if you don;t have a dyno and you are tuning on the street only, 31 to 45ish is where you will find yourself playing. I am pretty certain it will get better MPG as you increase it, then there will be a spot where it will begin to fall off again. I am at about 34*'s at 2400rpm and cruise. Maybe a cooter hair less.

Ill put some fuel back in it... I'm seeing 28-28.5 degrees of timing at cruise. No KR
I'm still seeing 10.8-9 in boost which is fine with me...
Cam is still the same nitrous cam... 224/227 .576/.588 113+3... Its doing good with the turbo, idled it up to about 800 and it sounds stock still... Might change it in the future but it'll stay for now.
This weather is keeping me screwed up too. 70s during the day and its dipped into the 30s a few times at night already.

Yeah, ill probably tune WOT to 11.2... I know ill be leaving some power on the table but I'd rather leave that on the table than parts on the road... This motor has got to be getting delicate now with all the hell I've subjected it to.
Ill bump the cruise timing up to about 30-31 and see what happens... I've got my knock sensors de-sensitized a hair because I was getting a lot of false knock... Should I leave them as is or put them back to stock for this little "trial period"??? They're probably due to be changed in the near future anyway.
So your telling me ill probably just have to get used to an eye-watering idle Dewey?? I have ran this thing WOT as rich as 9.7 and still haven't seen over 55% DC on these injectors
