Default Hypertech problem

I had a Hypertech programmer installed on an 01 GMC Sierra, I traded the truck in last year and didn't uninstall the Hypertech tune. Does anyone know of a way to erase the VIN information from the programmer so I can get rid of this thing? I thought there might be a battery inside that I could pull to clear the memory but there wasn't.

You'll probably have to send it back to Hypertech for reflash. They are good people and the customer service is good.

I called them and the service guy didn't say anything about that, he told me there was nothing that could be done. Lol, maybe he was new.

im sure they can do that but they would lose however much it cost for a new programer b/c then you could have 2 trucks programed by 1 programmer. lol (give the programmer to whoever bought the truck or throw it away)

You guys mentioning good customer service, did you know they won't update a tuner to work on a dealer updated vehicle? Basically, if your vehicle is running on an updated tune installed by a dealership, the programmer may not recognize it and throw an error, and Hypertech charges $250 to authorize it for your truck. Even though the truck is the exact model the programmer is advertised to work on. I think they are sh*tty people after speaking to them, but if you have any connections who can right this travesty, please let me know.
