Default HP Tuners

I am new to the tuning world, just looked around a bit but since i just bought a new lap top i am looking more into thinking of getting a program to play around with. I own a 99 GMC Sierra with the 5.3L. I have alift kit and bigger tires coming for it and will need to adjust for that anyway. My truck currently just has a cat back and a cold air set up. I hate to just buy a hand held unit when for not alot more i can go the computer route and have alot more future use if i want to make more mods. Anyone have any suggestions or ideas on what to do? HP Tuners is kinda intersting to me but like i said this is all new to me.

Thanks
Andy

Go the HP Tuners route, you will love all the things you can change to fit your needs. You will find performance improvements are an addiction, you can never get enough, so you might as well be able to change your truck the way you want it. There is enough info here and on HP Tuners website to get started. Plus the program comes with a help library that can help you figure things out. Step up to the bar and order up. By the way waiting for your ECM to come back to you everytime you send it back for an upgrade is over rated. It is much more fun to make instant changes yourself.

I'd say go the hpt route as well...the little stuff ie gear changes, code deletions & such is easy even for a beginner...as you read more & more you'll get more and more familiar with what tables do what. In the end it will be the best $ you'll spend on your truck because it grows with you unlike many mods.
