How much TM is safe to remove?

I removed all my engine TM and left 15% of the tranny. I also added a Transgo HD2 shift kit and servos...

Remove it all, up the line pressure, install a Transgo HD2 kit and servos like stated above and it should last you a good while

I don't agree with uping the line pressure and installing a shift kit.... I actually lowered my line pressure on the 1-2 shift, but I am on a stock converter....

im going by what my tuner tells me *shrug* thats what hes done to the 100's of trucks hes tuned and 85% of them are 100% stock trannys and they last a long time with no problems that way, hes got one truck that has 170k on a stock 60e that runs high 12s with no problems ... but 2 each their own

so your saying your tuner increases the line pressure with shift kits? Stock I can understand increasing the line pressure, but if a shift kit is installed then the line pressure should be stock or less depending on if you have a high stall TC...

My Stock trans slipped 2nd gear one time when it had 115k? miles on it.. Told my buddy about it and he suggested Superior Super Servos... got some and put them in.. Removed all TM and i couldnt get it to slip. at 145k i pulled the trans to put a built one in and a stall and it was working fine...
and some of you know how my transmission history is now...
80E fixed everything..

ahh yer fully correct, we mis understood eachother, and i mis wrote it, with the shift kit its right around stock, with out it he ups the pressure
