Default Houston area tuner for '08 DMax

Have the Quadzilla Stealth 2 now and it's a POS. I bought it to delete the PDF, correct speedo, and get better mileage. Power increase was not high on my list of virtues for the programmer. I have no interest in trying to make an 8000#, 4 door, 4wd truck haul ***. It succeeded in deleting the PDF and correcting the speedo for taller tires. It did make more power, but the fuel eco was just about unchanged with any of the settings. I was hoping for a little more power and a lot more MPG. My '03 DMax M6 4x4 got 20 mpg with a Predator programmer. I know that's probably not possible with the Allison, but I'd sure like to do better than the 15mpg it's getting now.

I've done a little reading on this site and others and it seems like the best solution would be a custom tune. Can anyone recommend a good tuner in the Houston area?

If youve got EFI there are a ton of tuners who can email you one, a few use HPT but very few. Aside from that, the PPE programmers are the best on the market.

"a ton of tuners who can email you one"....Anyone I can trust? I was hoping there would be a consensus here.

I dont know anyone on here who is a sponsor that can do it if wheatley cant but there are a lot of tuners out there just depends on what software you have available. Or if youre just looking for a one time deal send you a PCM and you send yours back duramaxtuner is your best bet for a mail order custom tune.

I'm just wary of running a tune from anyone that doesn't have much of a track record with diesels. It's one thing to mess up a 5.3L gas motor and a 4L60 tranny. I can buy good running gas motors with trannies for less than a grand. Whole different deal when you're talking DMax and Allison.

PPE is the best handheld programmer out there, and runs great. Duramaxtuner is your best bet for a custom tune that is safe to my knowledge. I dont know how much experience Wheatley has, shoot him a PM or email he may be able to help you out. I dont believe Nelson has done any, and ahve no idea about blackbear.
