Default High-Rpm Start-Up???

I installed a ported tb today on my 05 6.0 truck. I played with the throttle cracker and follower tables to get it to idle right. But, when you start it up, it soars to around 2600 rpm, then settles back down to idle. Will that go away after enough driving? Or is there something I can do in the tune to eliminate this? If it will go away on it's own, about how many startups will that take?

Here's your old thread thanks to our friend Search.

Try retuning the VE table. If that doesn't help you may need a pro to look at it. You didn't do anything to the tb after taking it off the other engine right?

Well, after I ported it and put it on the first time without success, I kinda gave up. But then I learned about tuning the cracker and follower tables, and now the only problem is the high rpm's on startup.

That's usually a sign of a throttle blade that doesn't seal perfectly, allowing more air through than the PCM is expecting to see. The result is a startup with significantly more incoming air.

A "fix" (more of a bandaid) exists within the startup airflow and startup friction airflow tables.

i had the same problem when i installed my ported tb. i sent it back and he sent me the tb off of his own truck and it worked perfectly. i'd say its the tb itself.
