Default ? on Granatelli Mass air sensor

I have a granatelli mass air senor for my TA 1999 that I took off before I sold it would it work on my 2003 GMC truck 5.3. Or are they configued only only for my TA. Or whats already on the truck the same as the Granatelli?

Everything that I've heard about using the Granatelli MAF's on these trucks has been negative. Seems they actually lose power and can lead to lean conditions and pinging. Some folks have gotten them to work OK with PCM tuning, but from what I've read, sticking with the factory MAF (and leaving the screen alone) seems to be the best way to go.

Thats what I wanted to hear. Can't do any about the screen since I took it off the first day I got the truck, what bad about taking the screen off?

I believe that the screen actually helps to "straighten" out the air to allow the MAF to get a more accurate reading.
