Default Going with speed density upgraded OS

Ive decided to go with the upgraded OS for the truck in my sig. One thing im stuck on is removing the MAF. Do i have to fully remove it, or do you descreen it or is it easier to remove and replace with a intake air temp sensor. Ive been reading all night and found 1 thread about a 6.0 using 2 wires from the MAF harness, tying them to an iat sensor mounted in the CAI tube. But i cant find anything for my 5.3. Im hoping someone might have experence with this or know how to do so. Or guide me in the right direction. If so please let me know where i can find the iat sensor needed to do the swap as well as how to wire it in. Or any other best practices would be helpful. Thanks agian.

You can just leave the maf sensor in place and use it for the IAT sensor. You should unhook the wires not associated with the IAT, and change the tune to SD.

Default 1 bar speed density

Once i pull the wires for the maf and leave the ones for the itake air temp, to make it SD. All i have to do is disable the maf by seeting the maf fail to 0 and setting the dtc's to 3 so they dont alert the pcm correct. Or is there anything else i need to do.

Yes, and then you will need to set it to open loop and tune the ve table. If you are using efi live, you can re-enable semi closed loop once you get your ve table close. There are tutorials that give a step by step on this.

Default Open Loop

To keep it in open loop all i need to do is jack up the temp out of range on the closed loop enable table fro HP tuners right.

I think you will also need to disable your short and long term fuel trims.

Out of curiosity, what's the need to pull the wires?

Honestly, I'm not sure. I use EFI Live, and it states to do that in the tutorial. If I don't do that, it never works properly.

There's no need to remove the wires. Once you fail the MAF, it will rely on the MAP sensor. I think the removal of wires was for f-bodies. Make sure you have the MAF failed correctly.
