Default First time using EFILive, getting knock retard?

Bought EFILive V1 from Blackbear and did some scanning on the way to work just to play and get the hang of things. By the time I got to work the dashboard showed that at one point I got 4.5 deg of KR. Didn't see exactly when it happened, but I believe it happened when the engine was still warming up while I was getting on the highway.

Then with the engine warm (170F) on the highway, I was going up a hill in 6th (T56) at 70mph and the TPS was 50-60% to maintain speed, and I got up to 0.6 deg of KR. The KR slowly went up and down, it was not abrupt.

And also, when I get over about 90% TPS it will go into "OL-Drive". It will also do this when DFCO kicks in. Normal?

Tune is a mail order from Calspeed for the T56 swap, stock heads and LS1 cam. Only thing that has be changed since is the addition of a 212/212 114LSA cam and unported 799 heads. No tune has been done since the heads and cam.

Should I be worried? I was always under the impression that KR is bad bad bad. Thanks!

First off read as much as you can. Efi live forum and here.

You need to determine first whether its real or false knock. False knock is very common with aftermarket valve train components for obvious reasons. However, if this was so easy I wouldn't have spent hours trying to figure it out myself. The morphology of the KR spike, quality of gas, any audible pinging, any change with decrease in timing, etc. all play a role in making the determination.

+1 I am still trying to learn false knock vs real knock. There is usually a very different pattern in the logs but it still makes me nervous anytime I see and KR at all.

If you can hear just a lil pinging then yea its real KR.

If you have a cam and springs, sometimes you gotta desensitize the knock sensors just a lil.

I honestly have no clue was pinging sounds like. It didn't sound any different than normal however.

Any videos of said noise? Hard to know what to listen for if I haven't heard it before. My truck makes all sorts of strange noises

Hah I'll pass but thanks. Come to think of if, I've heard the gravel inside a beer can sound before when going WOT at low RPM. Thought it was my valvetrain or a loose washer or something. Maybe I'll try to recreate the sound and see if I get some KR.
