Default electrical issue

i have had this electrical issue for several years now. if i leave the truck sit for longer than 5 days the battery is dead. i never could find the issue. well now i have killed 3 optimas batteries. i did a quick search but didnt find much in the realm of my truck and dead batteries. the only thing i have changed in the truck electronicly is the stereo. i have pulled the fuse on the deck and unwired the amp and the truck still dies.

might have to disconnect the positive terminal and use a test light and pull fuses until the light goes out. when its disconnected from the terminal the light on my test light stays lit so its got a drain somewhere.

Yes, You need to start pulling fuses to isolate what circuit is causing the drain.

I'd betcha your truck has the factory amplifier still wired up and it might be stuck on. If you installed an aftermarket head unit, the factory amp loses its reference state and will randomly stay on after the truck is shut off. If you have one, it will probably be a silver box behind the glove box on the right hand side.
Code:
Removing them is tricky though, lots of cutting/splicing. The factory head unit does not have a built in speaker level amp- it passes line-level sound down to the amplifier which then steps it up to speaker level sound, passively. Without the head unit in place the amp goes back to a 0-gain state, effectively passing signal from the aftermarket radio directly to the speakers. This amp is also sensitive to power throughput, generally at 19-20w of input power per channel the amp will go into lockout mode and you'll lose your sound as it cuts the speaker circuits.
