Default EFI vs HPTuners For Dummies

I'm sure this is around here some where but since the search won't find word combinations i cant locate it.
Will it be confusing to read a thread explaining how to tune that uses HP Tuners if I'm using EFI Live.
I ask because a lot of the links and everything aren't Tuner specific and I don't want to get to reading write ups that don't to me any good.

Thanks

I realize this sounds like a stupid question.
The only reason I ask is because the layouts are different in each tuner. My main concern was getting into different 'lingo" so to speak.
HPT may be use "THIS" and EFI may be use "THAT"

I am not sure what your question is....yes it will be hard to use a thread written for HPT when you are using EFI. Even harder the other way around IMO.

I think you understand my question just fine cuz you answered it.

I liked some of the LS1Tech write ups better than the ones on EFI's site but most of the one's on the LS1Tech forum are HPT based. Just wasn't sure how confused I would be if i read an HPT write up and then tried to translate it for use on EFI. But you nailed that down for me.

We don't have the 2 systems divided in the Tuning section so you just have to dig in and make sure your looking at the correct write up.

I'll stick with EFI forum for general reading. Right now i'm not looking for specifics, just reading into it.

What are you trying to do first, perhaps if you make your question a little bit more specific we can point you in the general direction... Tranny stuff, fueling, spark, etc...

concepts are the same on both. Just dont go looking for efilive table #'s in phtuner stuff. BUt in hptuners for sprark, you still go through engine spark control, high octane table. I use both forums when looking around. Realize that both programs are decoding Gm pcm, they just interface them differently to the users.

As I said, I'm not doing anything specific, I was just reading up on things like where to start, what to do and try to familiarize myself with what's going on.

Since my truck is already somewhat tuned for my cam I'm not going to see what the stock tables look like. I'm wanting to get used to where everything should be. I was going to start at the basic stuff and read. I just didn't want to read and HPT write up that says this should change to X and then EFI says it should change to Y.

That's kinda what i was going to try to do, I think I'll stick with the EFI Specific Forums for a while until i'm comfortable.

My main reason for asking was because the HPT write ups have been laid out better and had more info.
