Where you located? There are TONS of good tuners out there, but there are equally as many crappy ones.
I just bought the EFI Live V2 flash scan and tune software and while im just getting my feet wet, I like it a lot! Its a lot to learn that's for sure!
I don't know about HPT, but the thing I like about the V2 is that I can use the handheld to blackbox log and scan. No need to have a laptop on board.

Also how does the credit system work ?
You buy the software use a credit for my truck and if I make
Changes I have to use more credits ??
Also do they have tunes already as baselines ? Or start from scratch ?

I also have HPT and get the PRO or you'll regret it (like I did immediately after purchase).
There is a lot to learn, but it's not too hard to get into enough to make noticeable changes.
It takes many years or damn good guidance to make better use of 90% of the parameters you can adjust in your ECM.

i currently own both, i owned efi live for about 5-6 years, i have owned HPT for about 2-3 months. I would suggest buying HPT. HPT has kept updating the older PCMs where as EFi Live has stopped... This was the main reason i bought HPT. EFI Live was not going to update the older PCMs as new features/settings were discovered, HPT has.... I am not going to support a company that does not support the users/pcms that started it all for them... Concentrating on the new vehicles and PCMs is not a good business practice IMO... So with that said EFI Live will not see another dollar from me...
