Efans quit working! Help!!!!
I went through the car wash, and while sitting there waiting my truck began to get hot obviously. So I shut it off, waited, started it up and drove out. Upon my inspection of fans I've found that the relays were semi wet (not saturated) and all the fuses in fuse box by pcm are good which it's not fused into anything. Wired directly to battery ground and jump box. Its the BB harness and I'm getting 13.8 volts to one side of electric clip but not the other? I'm not even sure if both sides are supposed to carry volts but seems like they should? All I know is the damn things won't work! Any more ideas or is the relays shot and I'm in for another harness?:shrug::shrug:

It was an automatic wash btw and it started to get hot shortly after the undercarriage wash.

Sounds like might have water in the relay itself

How wouldi go about confirming this though? Is it one of those let it dry out things or?
|
You could let it dry but highly doubt will keep working you should be able to get relays from any auto parts store

I guess I'll try to re wire in new relays and see what happens, thanks for the info. Still curious to see if its the harness/relays since I'm getting power to one side of the two pin clip and no spinning of the fan?

Shouldn't have to require anything. Unplug the relay and install new one. Double check that your ground is tight.

If you have power to a fan check to see if you have ground on the connector if not then check your ground on the harness make sure its clean and tight if still no ground on the 2 pin lug to the fan then its the relay

But like 2000chevysilverado is mentioning, if you actually have power at the fans, that's a different ball of wax. Then you likely have a bad fan. Voltage tester, test those clips. Test across both pins and test both pins separately. But this is a waste of time if you have a bad relay. |
Okay thanks man
