Default efan question

Going to do an efan conversion on my '01 rcsb. Everybody seems to get a tune to get the fans to work.....is there any reason you can't just use a generic thermostat controlled kit? The ones that just T into a coolant port? Seems easier and cheaper to me unless I'm missing something. Thanks.

Im Running the man fan a a relay that turnes the fan on with the truck, and the second fan is wired to a switch inside the cab. Im sure you could use a thermostat to turn the fan on. Just gotta figure out the wiring.

That would work fine....most guys use the PCM to control at least one fan because they problably have a tune anyway and its only 1 wire (or 2) to have the pcm do it for you. The PCM is also much, much more reliable than the tstat controllers and turns on the fan based on the coolant temp the computer sees and/or if the ac is on.

For my 99 I have the pcm control the low function automatically and I have the high function routed to a switch in the cab.

I have mine thermostat controlled. Make sure to connected a signal wire to the relay from that ac compressor to turn the fan on when the compressor engages.

I know lots of guys that just use a toggle switch on the dash which is fine until you let the girlfriend drive the truck!

I have all of mine running off the PCM, if you dont want to get a full tune BlackBear will turn on the fan control for $55
