Doing LY6 and 6L80 into older RV question
#1
Ok I can’t get a straight answer on this !
if I want to do this swap in my old RV i would just need the following ?
LY6
6L80
ECM/TCM
wiring harness for complete engine and trans
what else would I need ?

That's a very abridged version, yes
are you asking what parts you need to pull from the donor truck?
you will also need pedal, shift switch, MAF, all peripherals on engine, manifolds, o2s
etc
if you're asking us what you need to install the engine into the RV chassis.... there is almost no way for us to know exactly, but we might get close. Is this going into an RV build on a commercial GM chassis?

so basicly all the engine sensors and trans sensors with the ECM and matching TCM ?
so I don’t need the body controller ?

If you are using an E38, the 6L will communicate with the E38, just like in the factory condition
The 6L TCM is internal, and canbus's to the E38. If you are using a DBW 58x/4x (like the LY6) everything to control the 6L80 is in the E38 and the 6L TCM- no issues

I wonder what is the OP's GVWR on the RV? I think the older RVs had a SBC or BBC with a TH400. The ones I've seen where not that big.
Later they used the 4L80e. RV sizes I think increased.
I did a quick search and does look like they used the 6L transmission on the newer, larger/heavier RVs. I would bet it's the 6L90e though. Probably need to look into transmission 6L80/90e weight rating differences...

I am also considering this to replace the 6.0 PowerStroke in my van. I am doing an LY6/6L90 because I have found a way to mount the Ford T-Case behind the 90e with a Dodge 29 spline input gear
Legos anyone? aha
Regardless, the 6L80 is a stout trans too, until ~700hp. But behind a mildly worked LY6? Even in a 9-9500lb vehicle it will last forever, imo
