Default Do you need to tune for trans and stall

hey guys, i need to know if you need to tune for this... if i had a cool tuner like nelson it wouldn't be a big deal, but westers started charging $50 for a retune and this is just getting ridiculous for how much i mod my truck... plus shipping into Canada is a pita... i know he has the line pressure bumped up for firmer shifts... will that hurt a trans with a shift kit in it??

Don't want to hijack your thread but I agree after $40 to ship to me then another $20 to ship back usps. After several time of retunes after mods the Wester retune cost seems out of line. If i had only known in the beginning. Guess I did. Happy with the level of service though. FedEx is really the only way to return these things to Canada if you want a positive delivery confirmation. USPS sucks!

Where are you located?

If you can confirm that Westers does not lock it or use some non-standard operating system, I'll help you out.

You mention "stall" in the title, by which I can assume you mean high-stall torque converter. These do not NEED tuning but I think you'll find with the higher stall speed you'd like your shift points at low throttle raised a little bit. The torque converter will make low-throttle shifts feel softer, and that's good. When you're casually gaining speed you may find you get little or no RPM decrease with an upshift. If the trans runs up through the gears too soon it will heat up the converter more than is preferred. Increasing low-throttle shiftpoint keep the power going though in higher efficiency higher RPM.

Why dont you use a Westers dealer that is located in the US? Then you dont have to ship to Canada everytime.

As well as everything else mentioned in the post. With a shift kit, do you not have to disable the adaptive shift functions. I have "heard" taht if you dont disable adaptive shifting, that the PCM will adapt and make the shifts smoother.

Any truth to this??
