disconnect MAF for VE ting
#1
I am about to start doing my ve tuning. I have efi live and created the calibrations etc to run it with my lc1 wide band. I see it says to disconnect the MAF to force the ecu into sd for logging and understand that part. I also see the calibration is set to fail the MAF at 100 hz min and max. Is it still necessary to unplug the MAF or will the calibration take care of it? My MAF is a 5 wire so I beleive the intake air temp sensor is in the MAF and I would have to remove the pin for the MAF signal from the harness. Any input would be appreciated.

unless you wire just the iat you can't unplug it. The ecu needs the iat. Set your fail rate at 0 not 100. It's still gonna fail, just feel better with zero. You're right on track. Don't forget to turn off all of the fuel learning trims and dfco and reset your fuel trims the first time out.

what tables do you set to 0?? Im using EFILive...Is it under Engine Calibration or Engine Diagnostics? Plus how do you turn off the learning trims and the DFCO? All help is appreciated!!!

Here ya go!
And you do not need to unplug the MAF sensor for it to go into SD. Just set it to fail and leave it pluged in for the IAT.

The Volumetric Efficiency Table (VE) is a correlation of data to determine proper fueling of the engine based on the imputs of Manifold Pressure, and Engine Speed. (Which defines the tables axis) By tuning this table properly, engine efficiency and power is increased because the PCM does not have to "search" for proper fueling when in closed loop. And directly controls fueling in open loop modes. (Granted the MAF sensor does have some say when in open loop as long as Steady State conditions are met.)
And for those who continue to use a MAF sensor. In order to properly calibrate the MAF, you must first get the VE Table properly tuned.

i just cut the wires to the maf and left the two wires for air temp senors..ive been running the last 2 months with the maf disconnected and everything works great..i got commanded 15.3 afr down the road and 12.9 on wot..i also went with a custom OS from efi which i would recommend also
