Cold Weather Lean Code
Would cold weather case a lean code? I have a blackbear tune and when it got cold the codes were thrown.
Thank you |
Cold weather lean codes could mean that the intake gaskets are leaking.
|
is it running rough or anything?

If it idled rough when cold out and got a lean code that's normally a sign of an intake gasket leak as scooter said.
If it's running fine i'm not really sure unless it's just a really small leak. |
How cold are you talking about? It's -10F here today, no lean codes, and I'm running my speed density tune that I "tuned" last summer. So far it's been running just fine as low as -20F. I drive my truck every day that it doesn't have a broken transmission.

Just used my extreme example to show you that I don't believe the "cold weather" is the reason for the lean condition. It's likely lean for another reason, like intake gaskets, fuel delivery, or bad/dirty MAF if you're running one.
Post up what you find wrong with it. |
Try cleaning the MAF. the IAT sensor could be dirty

Hmmmm, i'm glad i read this. my truck throws a code too every time i let it idle too long. might have to check my intake gasket too.
