Default Can EFILive be used "like a hypertech" (i.e., are "default" performance tunes avail?)

The situtation:

I'm buying EFILive very soon, probably someone's used V1 unit if I can find one. I've already done a good deal of reading on tuning, and will be following those procedures to properly tune my truck (an 04 Sierra).

My Dad has an 08 Sierra Denali and an 08 Corvette. He buys Hypertechs. He wants to plug it in, select "firmer shift points", select "power tuning", and 10 minutes later go drive it around. He has no interest in doing a proper tune or mail order tune. I've already discussed the advantages of them with him..not interested. Not interested in having me do the tune for him.

My question is, if I bought EFILive v2 (split the cost with him), would it be possible to just load a "default", well-vetted, Hypertech-style, least-common-denominator, half-*** generic, eliminate-the-PE-delay-bump-the-timing-firm-the-shifts-up-the-shift-points-kill-the-limiter tune for him?

He will not be thrilled if he sees me edit 17 tables on a computer and plug it into his truck. Really looking for "Hypertech-level" tuning here.

And again, I'd be perfectly content to just get the V1 for my truck and let him use the Hypertech stuff. This may be the better option in any case, i.e., if he likes what he sees when I get the V1, he can just go buy his own V2.

Thats why they call it CUSTOM TUNING SOFTWARE..
You read the tune off the ECM/PCM/TCM.. Adjust the Parameters to you liking and flash those into the vechicle.

It would be pointless if they came with that mess..
But it does come with Scripts you can run.. Say: Adjust Shift Firmness 10% or Disable Rear 02 Oxygen Sensors.

Here is what you do, tune your stuff and go out run his Hypertech junk..

I hear you...tis why I want EFILive in the first place. And I bet Dad would/will eventually see the light as well.

well with hptuners you can have it setup for basic tuning and only show a 1/3 of the software when you show him but go to advanced tuneing when your alone lol

Thanks again, totally realize that's the lamest question ever.

One more dumb question....can I use a V1 to read and clear codes on his 08's? And you don't consume any licenses doing so, correct?

Best guess is I'll wind up getting my own v1. Because computers and charts are scary.
