cammed 5.3 timing
#1
Why does timing seem to be a huge secret when it comes to tuning? I have done a lot of searching on timing for different setups and havnt really found much info on it except for wot should be around 26-28* at wot. But should it be 26* across the whole wot range or should it ramp up to 26*? What should the timing curve look like? Here is my tune for my cammed 5.3, it runs good with this tune but im just not sure the timing is right. i coppied this timing graph out of the hpt repository.
BTW i had it on a dyno dynamics dyno today and it put down 300 hp and 325 ft lbs with this tune. could it be better?

As I said in the other thread, (I'll continue the convo here), your burst knock table is still stock.
Sure, you may not have knock while driving but burst knock is still active and kicking your a$$.
Log the burst knock PID in the scanner and you'll see.
How to see burst knock:
While sitting still (redlight, long stretch of road), mat the throttle to the floor. You'll see in the log that burst knock kicks in and starts pulling timing.
This is because of the influx of air across the MAF, the PCM thinks there is something wrong and starts pulling timing. You can't see burst knock unless you log the PID.
You can either 0 the table out or max it out to 8.0. Some people will say to not do this, others will say do it. It's up to you.
I'll even send you my tune, if you'd like. I run 30 degrees of timing off-idle without a problem.
