100* plus does suck , sounds like you got a handle on the VE table .
Remember you can't hit every cell just hit what you can and smooth in the rest .

Despite what has been recommended, you do NOT want to disable PE mode. BEN factors don't care what the commanded AFR is, it's a ratio of actual AFR to commanded AFR. If you disable PE mode, then you're sacrificing the thermal protection that extra fueling provides...

That makes sense, is that also the reason that the tuturial tells you to lower the AFR ranges in the upper MAP areas on the table?

Uh , from the tutorial it states to place PE at 1.0 , 14.63 correct ?
This in effect does not disable it but places it in line with the commanded AFR in the [B3605] table , thus the PE does not effect the AutoVE process , correct ?
Why do you turn off COT then , because it effects the BEN mapping (modifies the AFR to richer attitude) , maybe I should have said setting PE at 1.0 or 14.63 disables the effect of the PE on the AutoVE process .

Actually, PE is a better method of providing high load fueling. Had you actually taken the EFI 101 course in NRH (I'm fully aware of why you wouldn't), you'd understand why.

BlackGMC, I'll shoot you a PM shortly.

Does the PCM command what is in the PE table and fuel from VE since the MAF is disabled? It always wants to command the richest availble ratio, correct?

Yes sir.

In a nutshell, the PCM determines the amount of air coming into the engine and applies the PE multiplier. This is either by calculation based on VE table value with respect to temperatures, rpm and map, or it's a combination of VE calculation and MAF reported, or entirely MAF, depending on conditions.

PM with more in-depth details has been sent.

Wasn't this all about AutoVE tuning ?
Uh , did not say anything about high load fueling did we , I kind of know that one .
When doing AutoVE you want as little influence from other sources on the VE BENs as you can get .
That is why you set PE to 14.63 .
But after the AutoVE and MAF tuning , you want to go back and set the PE for high load power (12.8 to 13.0 NAE) .
Unless you are using COS then you can command what ever fueling ([B3647]) and don't need the PE mode at all .

We had one at Xtreme Horsepower in North Richland Hills in March. Great shop for the course and the owners are real good guys, so we'll probably look at doing it there again sometime towards the end of the year.

PM me if you think you'd be interested in going and I'll be sure to get you more details once they come out.
