Default Am I Ethanolable..............

Been digging around how to tell if the Gen 5 trucks can run ethanol as there's no yellow gas caps anymore, and the only 5.3 is the L83. The explanation I got was that some trucks are and some are not. Wondering how I would know I found this Fle Fuel tab and this is what it looks like on my truck. Flex Fuel is enabled- so does that mean I'm good for Ethanol? Or is the 10% min/ max Ethanol limit me to the 10% or less blend.............

Looks like it is setup for normal 93, it is 9 to 12% E. Or that could just be the fuel trim for what’s in the tank. I’d add a gallon or 2 of E and see if it adjusts.

To me it just looks like it set to run at 10% all the time.

If your stoich table is 14.1 for all cells, then it's not a real flex fuel truck. Doesn't take much to install a sensor though, the harness is on the frame on the 2014-2018 trucks.

Thanks- not really looking to add a sensor or anything. Was just really wondering how I'd know if I would be ethanol compliant- a little while ago I ran E15 for a bit and the knock sensor went crazy setting off the SES light- so I guess it's normal gas for me...........

I've run E15 in non flex fuel cars for years, never had that sort of problem.

Yes there are factory FF trucks being built. The actual DI FF trucks went back to an actual sensor. There was no more Virtual FF. All the calibrations will have FF set to Enable. For it to be factory FF the Fuel Sensor would be set to Sensor, not Virtual.
And the E15 fuel around here is rated 88 octane.

It's 88 here, too. Guess the newer- 2017= trucks are a bit finnicky.................
