In the middle of a battery relocation and I have to run a single wire from alternator to the battery (that's now in the bed) and I was wondering if the factory single 8ish gauge wire that comes off the back of the alternator could be swapped to 1 gauge without issues. Why 1 gauge, well I have rolls of it and would rather use it up than buy more of another size. I'd post a picture of the wire I'm talking about but since photobucket decided to **** on everyone I haven't figured out how with imgur. If anyone's confused I can txt you thanks guys!!

Yep, thats just fine, just make sure the insulation isnt cut anywhere. I usually use some 0 gauge from my alternator to battery.

As Atomic said, it's fine. The heavier the better. Make sure the ground is short (length) and heavy gauge as well.

Go for it. The factory wire is actually a fusable link but like many other I am running 0 gauge.
