Default 98 5.7L Vortec performance

1998 Chevy Silverado K1500 4x4 5.7L vortec having acceleration problems. Truck will stuggle going up steep inclines, stuggle to get up to speed when merging into trafiic and not rev past 3k while in park. While driving, when accelerating heavily the truck will not climb in rpm past 3k and have a huge loss in power. In town driving is fine unless I need to pass someone or try to catch a yellow light. Have replaced cap&rotor and have gutted the cats. No engine light present. I have tested pressure, when pump is primed it will jump to 60psi then drop to 0psi within 20-30 seconds. When the truck is running pressure will be 51psi and will go to 54psi when revved a bit. Don't want to keep throwing money at it so I need opinions, thanks

I'm willing to bet your poppet injectors are clogged up or the crank position sensor went out

I was going to post top change the fuel filter, it ownt allow revs while under power. I had teh same issue.

On my 97 rcsb, I run 2462 1hkr ceramic coated Hooker Competition series headers The Competition Series use 16 gauge tubing and 1 5/8 primaries and 2 1/2" collectors, tehse are untuned.

2462 hkr is for painted
2462 2hkr is for stainless steel contruction.

There is also a Hooker Super Competition Series header with 18 gauge tubing, 1 3/4" x 3" tuned comfiguration./
2806 hkr is painted
2806 1hkr ceramic coated
There is also some newer TiTech coatings as well.

If you wish to run the stock L31 EGR you will need to add a bung on the driveers side, but I simply omitted teh EGR hardware and del;eted it via PCM calibration.
Those headers are designed fopr the TBI engines, but since the TBI and Vortec engines were BOTH used on the 88-99 GMT400 trucks, so the fit all the years.

peace
