96 chevy Tahoe
I have a question. I have a 96 Tahoe. Is there anything that I can do to my engine to get better performance out of it or should I just change the whole engine and if what, what engine can I use? If I can add any parts to it to make it perform better with more hp or what engine can I buy to turn my truck into a monster? By the way, I have Edelbrock Ceramic Headers, Superchips Programmer, K&N air intake and dual Flowmasters. Please any suggestions. I am in the Pennsylvania area.

do a lot of searching on here, most people will say that the way to go is to swap the engine out for gen 3 or newer one. A friend of mine had a 97 Tahoe with full bolt-ons and a pro-charger p1sc and made only 275rwhp. I would probably rip out that 5.7 and go with a lq4 or something of that sort. There is tons of info on this site so just search around and read alot.

The biggest problem is the injection system. You can slip a cam in it and put some headers and real exhaust on it and have something but if you plan on pushing anywhere near 400 hp it just won't have the fuel to do it. Honestly TBI is a much more capable system of making more power over the vortec CPI crap. The best fix is the Marine intake swap but thats a lot of money just to do that. For what it was designed to do the engine worked great aside from the leaking intake gaskets but the fuel system keeps it from being too flexible far outside the stock power level.

weel they make a spider injection upgrade its made by westers garage and it helped me alot it will suport up to 420 hp at the fly wheel and i believe ite gos from 23lbs injectors to 32 something like that but its around 400 bucks but its well worth it if ur goin with a cam and the marine intake!
