How do I get my 5.3 tune for the 6.0

 

Send pcm to or take the truck to a tuner.... You should be able to start and idle the truck with the 5.3tune to check fluids and move it enough to get it manuevered for wrecker or something to pick it up! especially, if youve done any mods to the engine, would not suggest anything other than idle maybe a little off idle just to get things moving and definitely not very long....

Most of the tuners (blackbear, tunedbyfrost, pcmofnc, etc) all have some sort of mail order tuning capacity

It's just a stck 6.0 right know but maybe later on a cam swap

 

For that id do a mail order or find a dealer that could reflash it for you so little difference in 5.3/6.0 stock tunes, i dare say you could drive it to a tuner...

 

I'm planning a 4.8 to 6.0 swap on my 2000 Silverado. I have a 2004 2500hd donor truck complete. If I'm reading what you wrote correctly, you said to get the 4.8 ECM tuned to run the 6.0 instead of installing the 6.0 ECM in the 4.8 harness? Is there anything else that I need to look for?

 

You could run the 6.0 ecm but youll have vin mismatch issues, without reflashing the vin into the 6.0 ecm.... What year is the truck its all going into
Nevermind i reread your post.... Reuse your ecm the 04 wont work inyour 2000.... 04up ac is controlled through bcm/hvac module...99-02 uses ac runs through pcm.... Not to mention data bus on the 04

 

Ahh gotcha. Thanks for the quick reply. Now I have to find a local shop to have my ecm reworked.
