Default 2002 Yukon Denali ignition switch wiring question

I picked up this beater *** 02 Denali that some jackasses went through with a pair of dykes for no good gatdamn reason.

Anyway, splicing **** back together so I can use this truck as a back up daily/ work truck.

I found a switch witch on the back of the ignition cylinder that has brown and green wires going to it. Of course they have been clipped and they didn't leave me enough to reattach them, so a yard trip is required.

anyone know what this switch does? Key detection? These are the wires:

If anyone cares, it detects the presence of the key in the cylinder. Those wires go to a small plastic button type switch at the 1o clock position on the cylinder
