Default 2-Bar VE map for an L31, still tinkering...

A little over a month ago I finished swapping the stock intake manifold out for a Marine unit with 36lbs/hr (44@60psi) Accell injectors. About three weeks ago I swapped out the factory 1-Bar MAP sensor for a 2-Bar and completely removed the Whippletronics and auxiliary injection.

After 55 revisions to my tune through logging and refinement I've come up with this crazy looking thing:

Since TunerCATS does not have a variable for the type of MAP sensor installed, all the kPa vaules in my tbale are displayed as half their actual value. The highest boost ever logged was 162kPa (displayed as 81kPa) so that's effectively where this VE map ends.

I was just curious if anyone who's done their own VE remapping with boost and a 2-Bar MAP sensor has ended up with anything similar looking. It would be nice to know I'm on the right track.

Thanks

Have you cammed this motor?

Honestly, the VE table looks pretty much good to me except for the low part.

How much vacuum at idle, as in, where does the MAP sensor show at idle.

I'm thinking it should have more of a curve in the RPM side too. Maybe peak somwhere around the torque peak, or is it where torque corsses HP? Not sure, but the part throttle looks to be pretty flat.

I am still running the factory cam. At the time I had a Crower 00401LM installed I had no way to tune for the lesser vacuum at idle and it got so annoying I took it out. At idle I have between 42 and 48 kPa (displayed as 21-24kPa). Idle is very smooth with this manifold and injectors. The extra fuel at the low RPMs from 35kPa and above really woke up throttle response and revving from idle. I have P.E. programmed to start at 70% throttle, so past there I don't get any trim values. Everything below 70% throttle has been fine tuned logging LTrims and tweaking the VE table accordingly. I've modified this table and reprogrammed my PCM now over 50 times fine tuning it. Throttle response is so quick now that you feel the power for a moment before the transmission can start downshifting. I got it to respond that way by fattening up the table in the sub 2400 ranges, seems like the extra fuel helps alot.
Honestly, for all the trouble I've gone to logging LTrims and tweaking the VE tables, I should have spent the money and invested in a wideband data logger of some sort. Also, the more I read about F.A.S.T XFI and the dynamic wideband tuning it does the more I think I should have gone that route Instead of using the factory computer!

Looks pretty good. I did a L31 myself with a 2bar setup. It looks a little weird in a few spots, allthough I am sure you will get that ironed out. What blower are you running? why would you have PE comming in so late??? The Ram jet truck has numbers closer to 500 in the ve table. At torque peak its at 491ve at about 8psi. It made 375/485 to the tires the hp peak was at 4600 and torque at 3600. This is with a bone stock long block. Also a 60e with a shift kit and servos. Also a vigilanti converter and stock 8.5". I ahve it shifting at 5100 into 2nd,5050 into 3rd,and 5000 into 4th and then the converter will lock at 135 and it has been good for 154mph on the scan tool.

Also it is bagged on 20's. It went a best of 12.84 and the best trap speed is 107.4.

Here is some pics.

You can see video of it running here at dragtruck.com.....

BTW he is running Delphi 57's@58psi at idle. Goes just over 70psi at 13-14psi. Idles like a kitten, and it should with a stock cam, trims are always within 3-4% plus or minus. Thats if you are adding the short and longs. Lets say it will be at 2% LT then if the ST is another 1% I consider it to be 3% off. At the end of the season he was running race fuel when he was running 14psi. Then I had it running open loop and it would idle and run down the road at 14.5-14.9:1 depending on severe weather changes. At 0psi at WOT it was at about 12.9:1 then progressively got richer at 5psi or so it would be at about 12.3-12.4:1 and 10psi and above I generally shot for 11.5:1. The dyno run was at 10.9:1 at torque peak and 11.2:1 at hp peak...got heavy fuel the day before no chance to lean it out before the dyno runs. Still ran good though did not mind being that rich at all.

The motor is out now cause its getting etec 200's and a comp cam. Everything looked bran new inside yet. Its also getting a bigger blower and a 4l80e. I would like to see the stock short block go 11.50's and 115+mph or better at 5100lbs. This will be on C-16 of coarse.
