Do you have EFILive? If so you can activate the PID for "Time Between Crank Reference Pulses", "Crank Angle Sensor Error", "Cam Signal Input High To Low" and "Cam Signal Input Low To High" and view the signals on the Data page. compare that to a stock truck and that should verify the inputs of both sensors. as far as the clocking of the reluctor i would imagine it would still fire all eight.

Well, we went straight to the motor. I bought a 5.3l that was swapped because it smoked and made noise. They thought it was a broken piston. Anyway, I just needed something to swap in to see if the coils fired. I threw it in today and it fired right up. So, the problem seems to be with the new motor. It does have the 28x reluctor.
I'll email the builder and see how they handle the situation.

Looks like ther reluctor was/is the problem. I measured the runout today and it is .013 which is more than it should be. It should be less than .01. The cranks endplay is .006 just pulling it by hand, so it may be above tolerance too.
