Default '08 Tuning Questions... shifts, etc

Ok, I started tuning on my '08, have a few questions.

I have the WOT 1-2 Shift RPM at 6000, it still shifts at 5556 RPM, logged 3 runs, all the same. Also, have timing set at 28* through that area and am only getting ~20*. The shift occured at ~45-46MPH, in the WOT Shift by MPH that table is set at 40 MPH... Whats up with this?

Also, what are you guys adjusting when trying to get part throttle, cruising fuel economy increases?

Regarding timing, what is an ideal advance at cruise speeds? For example, at ~60 MPH ~1650 RPM ~.42 g/cyl I am seeing 25.5* However at WOT from a dig only 20*... Any help or suggestions is appreciated. Thank you.

For starters their are some variables in getting your trans to shift at the rpm that you want it to such as torque management, shift pressures, WOT shift speed and of course WOT shift rpm and some other things can affect it. You might want to try upping your WOT shift speed mph. Getting your rpm and the speed you are shifting at to jive is important to get it shifting at the rpm you specify. Some vehicles are different for instance I have my truck set to shift at 6300 rpm and without touching the WOT shift speed table it shifts at 6300 rpm on the money.

As far as timing in my opinion 28* at WOT on a stock truck is way too much timing and I would imagine at that amount you are probably getting alot of KR thats pulling it back to 20*.

I didn't notice any KR, that doesn't mean it wasn't there, I'll back it down some and see where it goes.

For the trans, previously on my '01 I only adjusted the WOT Shift MPH table and never touched the RPM side and it worked flawlessly, I will try and up the MPH table a few MPH and see what comes of it.

The default setting for your truck's 1-2 shift is for it to occur by Vehicle Speed only. 2-3 and 3-4 are set to shift based on both Veh speed and RPM, but not 1-2. Needs to change that shift qualifier parameter in your tune.

ok, i raised the 1-2 WOT Shift MPH table, hopefully that will make the difference, I'll have to wait until after work to load the tune and give it a whirl on the way home.
