i would loan my truck in a second if i was close. whats involved in the steering wheel? whole column? i tried it once and it was close but i just couldt get it on so i sold the wheel

It'll work but if I tell ya the trick I'd have to kill ya. It involves alldata and a complete bcm retrofit and changing the doors over to newer style driver door and passenger door module control via the bcm to do it right.
If you wanna rig it you can leave the old bcm as a slave to control the door locks only. It's a major PITA and not for the faint of heart or those with weak wiring skills.
Did it on my dads 02 for him. If I had it to do all over again it would be way easier to just grab a complete inside outside harness from a newer truck then it's plug and play.

why you need to do that? i think you only need to swap some wires location on the ipc connetor te only gage that will now work its the oil pressure, 06 uses the serial data to run it, 01 uses bulb signal directly to the ipc, you can get a 01 bulb and wire it to make it work
